about misterdume

Dumé lives by a singular philosophy — You can’t build a reputation on things you’re going to do.

He is a Bronx native and multi hyphenate storyteller. Encouraged by Dominican parents to embrace the world both practically and academically. Learn something, live something, but earn the privilege of your life.

Inspired by experiences both strange and moribund, Dumé’s created for Vox Media’s Explainer Studio, Harper’s BAZAAR, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, VICE, NY Times, Teen Vogue, DAZED Digital, Nike, Chevy, Hilton Hotels, IBM, Intel, Maybelline, Clinique, Netflix, Pfizer, Macy’s, VSCO, Louboutin, UGG, Redbull and a litany of others. Fluctuating through various mediums, from filmmaking to advertising, social media to fashion editorial, news, documentary and photography.

Dumé is currently a Creative Director at Vox Media. He’s a bilingual autodidact, a wanderlust audiophile, a student of philosophy, an AI curioso, a reformed punk and a glassware enthusiast. He’s a lover of books and leather jackets. He journals. He talks to strangers. He enjoys foul language in good company, great food in strange places, and is often struck by the beauty of the universe hidden in plain sight.

Somewhere on this strange and wonderful journey he grew a beard, volunteered with non-profits, lectured to students, embraced the dangers of urban exploration photography, curated art exhibits and committed to a month long vow of silence (and yes, this is true). He’s currently writing his first book, a sardonic take on the transnational life of the Dominican diaspora.
